Volunteer Opportunities
Below you can find some of the volunteer opportunities for MDA members and non-members alike. At shows, there are many different types of help needed. Please reach out to the show contact to inquire about opportunities. More details may also be found at their website.
New for 2025, those wishing to qualify for Year End Awards must submit 4 hours of volunteer work. These hours can be earned at any time during the competition year (October 1st through September 30th); can be any combination of the following activities listed below, and must be signed off by a competition, educational event manager, or MDA Board Member.

1. MDA / USDF Sanctioned Events

- Ring Steward
- Score Runner
- Parking Attendant
- Office Staff
- Event Set up and Clean up (MDA Banquet event is also eligible)

2. Serving on the MDA Board of Directors
3. Being on any MDA Committee
4. Being an MDA Ambassador at any recognized show (prior approval required from Board of Directors)
5. Working the MDA booth at the Michigan Horse Expo
6. Contributing to the MDA Newsletter (600 word minimum, 1 article is equivalent to 2 volunteer hours)
7. As a trainer, donating lessons to youth or MDA events for hours
8. Hosting a virtual educational event via Zoom or Google Meet (prior approval required from Board of Directors)
Activities outside of those listed may also be accepted at the discretion of the MDA Board of Directors. Please reach out to the volunteer coordinator or another member of the Board, for approval. Volunteers are crucial to the continuation and success of our sport. If the MDA member isn't able to volunteer, the member can assign a proxy to complete their hours for them.
